1742 The Royal Mineral Water Hospital opened.
1766 Kingston Baths completed - the first private baths in the City - situated just to the south of the Abbey (demolished 1923).
1777 Hot Bath rebuilt to the design of John Wood the Younger.
1783 Cross Bath rebuilt and enlarged between 1783 and 1789.
1788 New Private Baths (demolished 1970) built between King's Bath and Stall Street.
1791 The colonnaded Bath Street built to give covered access from the Grand Pump Room to the Cross and Hot Baths.
1796 Grand Pump Room completed. While excavating the foundations many Roman remains - including the 'gorgon's' head - were discovered.
